Last week, Providential Home Care founders Jake and Zac Schmerber visited the Hollywood Senior Center in Portland to connect with community members and share their vision for aging in place with dignity.
A Community Connection
The brothers spent the afternoon talking with seniors and their families about the challenges of aging at home. "We started Providential because we saw a need in our own family," Jake explained to attendees. "Our grandmother deserved better care than what was available, and we knew other families felt the same way."
The visit included a presentation on home safety tips, followed by an open Q&A session where community members could ask questions about in-home care options.
Listening to Families
"The most valuable part of these visits is listening," said Zac. "Every family has unique needs and concerns. By being present in the community, we learn how to serve them better."
Topics that came up during the discussion included:
- How to know when it's time to consider in-home care
- Balancing independence with safety
- Supporting family caregivers
- Navigating care options and costs
"Being brothers who work together, we understand family dynamics. Care is personal, and it should feel that way."
— Jake Schmerber
More Community Events Coming
Providential plans to host more community events throughout the year. If you'd like us to visit your senior center, church group, or community organization, please reach out—we'd love to connect.
